European Gas Prices Reach Highest Average Since Late 2022
Europe’s average gas price for October 2026 was about $1,000 for each 1,000 cubic meters, according to calculations by TASS using ICE exchange data, reported by Aurora News. The calculated average was the highest since late 2022 and stood at 2.6 times the level recorded in October 2025.
At TTF, the Dutch trading hub that serves as a European gas benchmark, separate reporting put the November front-month futures contract above €100 for each megawatt-hour on October 28, 2026. That report identified it as the first crossing of the threshold since 2022 and gave an equivalent price of approximately €1,050 for 1,000 cubic meters.
For European gas futures, Aurora News put the October 30 closing price at roughly $1,190 for 1,000 cubic meters. Its September 30 comparison was about $845 for the same volume, with the reported increase between those month-end readings amounting to 41%.
The futures figures were distinct from the TTF spot-market peak reported separately by Aurora News. According to that account, October spot trading exceeded $1,200 for 1,000 cubic meters at its highest point, a level last reached in December 2022.
