The Ministry of Ayush has advanced the Ayush Grid project to support digital transformation across traditional medicine, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence and machine learning into sector operations.

Ayush Grid was conceptualized to provide a unified IT infrastructure for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, and Homeopathy. The platform underpins several digital initiatives, including citizen services and research resources, and supports the integration of advanced technologies in healthcare, research, and education.

Since its launch in 2018, Ayush Grid has enabled the development of multiple digital platforms, such as the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP), Ayush Hospital Management Information System (AHMIS), and the Ayush Research Portal. These platforms facilitate access to information, streamline licensing, and connect with national health missions.

The Ministry has introduced six specialized AI assistants to enhance sector operations. These include chatbots for citizen information, research support, student lifecycle management, medicinal-plant trade, yoga recommendations, and investment facilitation. The platforms are now available in all 22 scheduled languages of India through the Digital India Bhashini Division.

At the IndiaAI Impact Summit 2026, the Ministry’s AI-driven decision support system for Ayurveda was featured in the AI Impact Casebook on Health, developed with the World Health Organization. The event also showcased AI-powered chatbots and Yoga Posture AI at the Ayush Pavilion, highlighting technology applications in service delivery, research, and governance.

The Ministry is participating in the IndiaAI Innovation Challenge, working on AI use cases such as voice-based electronic health records, disease-trend detection, and personalized treatment-support solutions. The Centre of Excellence in AyurTech at IIT Jodhpur was established to combine genomics, digital health, and AI for evidence-based approaches.

Ayush Grid’s architecture consists of four layers—Core, National, State, and Citizen Access—enabling integration across all Ayush streams. The platform supports citizen-centric initiatives, including the SAHI portal, NAMASTE portal, and the Ayush Research Portal, which provides access to curated research data.

The Ministry of Ayush contributed to the development of the Traditional Medicine Module in ICD-11, allowing dual coding for traditional and conventional diagnoses. India’s AI-led innovations in predictive diagnostics and Ayurgenomics were acknowledged by the WHO in a technical brief released in July 2025.
