The Odisha High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) gave approval to a set of power and renewable energy projects valued at over ₹54,000 crore on September 23, 2026. This decision was made during the authority’s 46th meeting, which was chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The projects approved include two thermal power plants and two pumped-storage hydropower projects. The thermal plants, located in Deogarh and Angul, were secured by NLC India Ltd and together represent an investment exceeding ₹46,000 crore.

The hydropower projects are planned for Rayagada and Koraput districts. In total, the HLCA approved 27 projects across 15 districts, with the power and renewable energy sector accounting for a substantial portion of the total investment.

According to Energetica India Magazine, the combined investment for the four approved power and renewable energy projects reached ₹54,287.70 crore. The magazine reported that these projects were distributed across 15 districts in Odisha.
