Northern Ireland’s Department for the Economy announced £15 million for the Zero Emissions Transport and Energy Cluster, or ZETEC. The project is intended to use Belfast Harbour as a testing environment for zero-emission transport and energy systems.

The department named Artemis Technologies as the project lead. It described plans to connect electric vessels, marine charging, autonomous transport and energy systems through secure digital-twin technology.

The department said ZETEC was the second project announced under a £30 million allocation for the Belfast-Derry Innovation Corridor. Separately, on 29 July 2025, the UK Government said at least £30 million had been earmarked for the Belfast-to-Derry-Londonderry corridor through the Local Innovation Partnerships Fund.

The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology described the fund as a programme worth up to £500 million.
