The European Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Alliance (ECAVA) is set to present its technology roadmaps at a session in Paris on 12 October 2026, coinciding with the Paris Motor Show. This event continues the Alliance’s efforts to coordinate industry and public sector collaboration on connected and autonomous vehicles.
ECAVA was established in March 2025 under the European Commission’s Automotive Action Plan. The forum brings together vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, technology providers, researchers, cities, and public authorities to discuss and advise on the future of automotive technology in Europe.
The upcoming session in Paris will introduce two new projects funded through the European DIGITAL programme. One project will set up a dedicated secretariat for ECAVA, while the other will develop a collaboration platform to support the Alliance’s activities.
ECAVA’s technology roadmaps focus on four main areas: software-defined vehicles, automotive hardware, autonomous driving, and deployment strategies. These roadmaps are intended to guide industry and public sector stakeholders as they work towards advancing vehicle technologies across Europe.
What the numbers show
- ECAVA was launched in March 2025.
- The first ECAVA Forum took place on 23-24 June 2026 in Brussels.
- Technology roadmaps will be presented in Paris on 12 October 2026.
- ADACities expressions of interest close on 20 October 2026.
The Autonomous Drive Ambition Cities (ADACities) initiative, which was launched at the first ECAVA Forum in Brussels in June 2026, is designed to help EU cities and industry partners move Level 4 autonomous vehicles from pilot projects to market-ready deployment. The initiative is currently open for expressions of interest until 20 October 2026.
During the Brussels event in June 2026, ECAVA presented draft versions of its technology roadmaps and officially launched the ADACities initiative. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to support the adoption and scaling of advanced vehicle technologies across Europe.
The introduction of a secretariat and a collaboration platform aims to strengthen ECAVA’s capacity to coordinate activities and facilitate communication among its members. These new projects are expected to enhance the Alliance’s ability to support innovation and policy development in the automotive sector.
By bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders, ECAVA continues to serve as a central forum for discussing and shaping the direction of connected and autonomous vehicle development in Europe. The upcoming Paris session marks another step in the Alliance’s ongoing work to support the industry’s transition towards advanced vehicle technologies.
