Deloitte Report Shows Shifts in Enterprise AI Adoption for 2026
At a glance
- 25% of organizations have moved 40% or more of AI experiments into production.
- Worker access to approved AI tools increased from under 40% to about 60% in one year.
- 74% of companies plan to deploy agentic AI within two years.
Enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence continues to evolve, with organizations reporting increased deployment of AI tools and new plans for advanced systems, according to the Deloitte AI Institute’s 2026 trends summary.
The report shows that a minority of organizations have reached high levels of AI integration in their operations, while a larger group expects to advance their adoption in the near future. The findings also highlight changes in employee access to AI tools and the use of emerging technologies such as agentic and physical AI.
According to the Deloitte AI Institute, only a quarter of surveyed organizations have moved at least 40% of their AI experiments into production so far. However, more than half of organizations expect to reach this threshold within three to six months, indicating ongoing efforts to scale AI projects.
Employee access to sanctioned AI tools has also grown substantially. The proportion of workers with access to approved AI solutions increased by about 50% over one year, rising from less than 40% to around 60% of employees.
What the numbers show
- 25% of organizations have 40% or more AI experiments in production.
- 54% expect to reach that level within six months.
- Worker access to sanctioned AI tools rose from under 40% to about 60% in one year.
- 74% plan to deploy agentic AI within two years.
- 58% are already using physical AI, projected to reach 80% in two years.
Plans for agentic AI, which involves autonomous agents, are widespread among companies. Nearly three-quarters of organizations intend to deploy such systems within two years, but only 21% report having a mature governance model in place for managing these autonomous agents.
Physical AI, which includes robotics and other embodied systems, is already being used by 58% of organizations. Deloitte’s data indicates that adoption of physical AI is expected to reach 80% of companies within the next two years.
The report identifies a gap between the intention to implement advanced AI technologies and the readiness of governance frameworks to manage them. While many organizations are preparing to deploy agentic AI, the development of mature oversight structures for these technologies remains limited.
Overall, the Deloitte AI Institute’s findings point to ongoing changes in how enterprises are integrating AI into their operations, expanding employee access, and planning for more advanced forms of artificial intelligence.
